Pink smoothie bowl recipe
These Insta-worthy smoothie bowl recipes will transform your usual morning protein shake from dull to dreamy and they don’t take long to prep!

No-where does smoothie bowls like Bali and ever since returning from there a few months ago, I’ve been trying to replicate the intense colour, taste and beauty of a perfectly put-together breakfast bowl.

Although the fruit in London isn’t quite as juicy, I’ve managed to get as close as I can to living the Bali dream here in the big smoke. And best of all, I’ve combined them with one of my favourite protein powders making these recipes perfect for a post-workout refuel.

Protein shake trio
My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard: why have one flavour protein shake when you can have three?

Strippd makes protein powder with all-natural, GMO-free ingredients sourced here in the UK. While we should all be getting our daily protein quota from nutritious food sources, the whey or vegan (pea and hemp) powders can boost your protein intake, helping to maintain lean muscles and speed up recovery when consumed about half an hour after a workout.

So if you’re looking to pimp your protein, get stuck in to these light and refreshing smoothie bowl recipes – perfect for a heatwave, they’ll feed your eyes as well as your body:

Add an extra injection of cocoa to your regular chocolate shake and bolster the nutritional value with bananas and blueberries.

  • 1 scoop of Strippd Vegan Lean Protein Powder in Chocolate
  • 150 ml almond milk
  • Frozen banana
  • Handful of blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon of nut butter
  • Toppings: fresh strawberries, toasted buckwheat museli and white chia seeds

Instagram tip 1:

Mix up textures and size of toppings such as fine chia seeds against chunky museli. Play around with different crockery, background surfaces and textures to get the best composition. You can accessorise with napkins, cutlery, table mats, glassware or flowers – anything goes!

Pink smoothie bowl

For a pink smoothie that really pops, just add beetroot! You can barely taste it and as well as bringing folic acid, fibre, manganese and potassium to your diet, it packs that extra punch in the colour department, too.

  • 1 scoop of Strippd Vegan Lean Protein Powder in Vanilla
  • Coconut milk
  • Frozen banana
  • Handful of beetroot cut into chunks
  • Handful of raspberries, acai or dragonfruit
  • 1cm grated ginger
  • Toppings: fresh strawberries, kiwi fruit, toasted buckwheat museli and chia seeds

Instagram tip 2:

Earn your stripes: positioning your toppings in linear patterns over half or all of the bowl looks best.

Strippd protein cookie

Pimp your snacks

If smoothies aren’t your thing or you’ve got a dash-and-grab situation, Strippd protein cookies contain a whopping 15g of protein. These crumbly treats do contain fat and sugar, so best not get too addicted, but if you’re going to reach for a sugary snack during the afternoon slump, it might as well be protein-packed and high in fibre. Above, we’ve photographed the vanilla-flavoured cookie with a tumbler of vanilla and chocolate whey protein shakes. A classic combo that takes us back to those cookie and milk-breaks we used to have as kids…

Instagram tip 3:

A white background is more likely to make a brightly coloured smoothie bowl pop and conversely, if your smoothie bowl in creamy and neutral in colour, why not opt for more colourful bowls and accessories to bring the shot to life?
