Last week saw the launch of Barrecore and Digme in Moorgate. As two boutique fitness brands share the same space could the future of fitness be changing?
Venue: Barrecore and Digme
Class: Barrecore Signature Express and Digme Ride
Location: Moorgate, EC2Y 5EJ
Blowout or budget: Barrecore is offering new members 3 classes for £45 but there’s also various membership packages available.
Digme works on credits and currently has a 2 credits + 1 buddy credit £20 intro offer.
You can now combine your barre workout with a blast of indoor cycling as Barrecore and Digme Fitness open to share a spacious 800 square-meter facility (complete with juice bar and retail area) to offer busy city workers a hybrid of two fitness disciplines.
Hearing news that Barrecore’s seventh London studio and Digme’s third was to open in Moorgate to provide time-starved professionals with a range of luxury fitness classes, we couldn’t wait to head down to the launch and check out the shiny new concept.
For those who don’t know, Barrecore is a ballet, pilates and yoga inspired workout that uses your body weight as resistance to work your entire bod. Creating longer, toned muscles while reducing body fat, this high-intensity, low-impact discipline focuses on tiny isometric movements to ensure every muscle group is worked to fatigue and you feel the barre burn.
Vanessa and I were lucky enough to take the Signature Express class with founder Niki Rein. A fast paced 45-minute blast, this class makes every minute count. Niki explained how Signature Express provides the same muscle burn-out as Barrecore’s longer classes but with faster transitions and less time spent on stretching and sweating it makes the perfect class to squeeze into your lunch hour… BONUS!
With our pliés and planks on pointe we then headed over to Digme Fitness for the second half of our workout.
Race and ride
Suitable for everyone from beginners to pros, Digme’s classes feature the most amazing audio, lighting and technology. With a sophisticated data system that allows you to keep track of your progress on a virtual road, the class quickly becomes fun and competitive.
You’ll soon forget you’re working out as you become immersed in the hill climbs and races on the big screen. And whether you’re looking to improve your mileage, calorie burn or watts you’ll be able to track your progress on the leaderboard throughout the class. A summary of your performance is even emailed to you after so you’re able to see how well you’ve done! This is something not many spin studios can boast about.
Life of luxury
Having blitzed the barre and pedalled a respectable five miles we then took ourselves off for a well-deserved cool down. Complete with complimentary Cowshed shower products, fluffy white towels and GHDs, the changing rooms are every girl’s dream.
We then finished the night off with a delicious refuel from Nourish Kitchen… YUM!
The future of fitness is changing! What an innovative concept, this really is a 360-degree wellness service with a difference. At the moment the two studios are operating independently but there’s nothing to stop you doing two classes back to back and reaping the benefits from two completely different disciplines. Well done guys, we think there’s a lot to be said for mixing your workouts up!
Barrecore and Digme are both open at the weekends so why not head down with the girls and check out what they have to offer. Just make sure you reward yourself with a bottomless brunch at Bad Egg after. Conveniently not too far away!
